Our Chapter History
Our first President and current VP of Membership, Shauna James, has been a member of NCL, Inc. since she herself was a 9th grader growing up in Texas, where NCL, Inc. chapters abound and membership is hard to come by! Inspired with the desire to provide the NCL Experience for her own daughters, and in partnership with Maureen Thomas, who had contacted the National Office herself about starting a chapter, the two ladies recruited area moms and their daughters to help, and, in April of 2012, the first Illinois chapter of NCL, Inc. was formed.
With a lot of hard work on the part of our initial Board of Directors, our Chapter successfully completed its provisional term and became the 172nd chartered chapter of NCL, Inc. in March 2014!
Since our inception, our chapter membership has grown from 80 members to 168, and our original 3 philanthropies have expanded to 16.
Last year alone, our moms and daughters donated 2,700 volunteer hours in support of our philanthropies, and we expect that number to keep growing!
